Steel Magnolias Features Local Cast

Coming Dec. 8, 9, 10 to Artspring, Steel Magnolias. Local actresses Wendy Beatty, Randie Clark, Megan Manning, Marit McBride and Christina and Sarah, the Penhale sisters will transport you to southern Louisiana, circa 1980′s, and give life to a tale of friendship. Six southern women share their secrets with a spritz of gossip and throw themselves open to each other. Every event in their lives, from the mundane to the essential, is faced with honesty, grace, strength and perfectly done hair. In the face of tragedy, they turn to Truvy’s hair salon and each other for solace and support. Steel Magnolias is a celebration of love, loyalty, strength and the bonds of sisterhood.

Under the direction of Suzanna Laine, the cast and crew have been leaving their “er’s” at the door, and working on perfecting this truly funny and touching play by Robert Harling.  The Academy Presents is producing this play as a fundraiser for bursary funds for the Salt Spring Arts Academy.  Tickets are $20.00 and available at the Artspring Box Office.  Please come out and support local theatre and by extension local arts programming for kids and families!
