The Wisdom of Menopause Workshop
Suzanne Little | Nov 02, 2009
November 14th, 11am-2pm at the Community Gospel Church. Salt Spring Island Community Education will be offering an informative workshop entitled “The Wisdom of Menopause.”
Submitted by Anne Miller
Homeopath and herbalist Jamie Capranos will be offering a holistic view on how women can nurture their health and well-being through menopause. “I will be encouraging women to think of menopause as a process during which she’ll be creating the healthy body she needs and desires for the rest of her life,” says Jamie.
What a woman experiences during this period of her life depends upon a multitude of factors, from her heredity, her expectations, her cultural background to her self-esteem and her diet. It is culturally expected that women experience mild to extreme discomfort and troublesome symptoms at menopause. However, in this three hour class, women can learn about a wide variety of natural options, particularly using herbs, diet, and homeopathy, which exist to ease the turmoil of what can be experienced at this phase of life.
Jamie’s philosophy is that the path to optimal health exists by drawing on the best of western medical knowledge when needed, and then to apply the wealth of ancient herbal and homeopathic wisdom that can manage a vast scope of ailments and symptoms that can often prevent diseases from advancing.
In this class participants will sample hormone balancing teas, learn how to make an herbal infusion, learn about the most valuable homeopathic remedies to manage excessive bleeding, hot flashes, and other uncomfortable symptoms, and walk away understanding the essentials of women and nutrition. This course is intended to educate and empower women to take their bodies in their own hands, and see how some small and subtle changes in diet and lifestyle can reap huge benefits and result in radiant health.
