A Taste of the Island at Salt Spring Vineyards

Studio #4 – Salt Spring Vineyards

Joanne and Dev McIntyre have been developing their wine palate with travels to Italy and France, joining cellar clubs and wine societies.  In 1984 Dev and his wife Joanne began experimenting in a small backyard vineyard on a portion of their 5 acre property.  In June 2008, after 24 years in the Fraser Valley, they have now  fulfilled a lifelong dream, by taking the plunge and settling on beautiful Salt Spring Island as majority owners  of Salt Spring Vineyards. They bring to Salt Spring Vineyards their enthusiastic viticultural and oenological background.  They are dedicated to producing excellent coastal wines, while concurrently advocating sustainability for the environment and their community.

The Salt Spring Studio Tour offers a year round opportunity to meet local artists and artisans and experience the creativity that abounds on this wonderful island. Please follow the sheep signs and enjoy.

Definitely worthwhile when you’re visiting Salt Spring Island to drop into one of the Salt Spring Vineyard’s wine tastings. Lovely setting, warm and congenial, great wine and cheese, sometimes other snacks, pate and such, and frequently live music in the summer.

I highly recommend a bottle of the Blackberry Port and also you should get a bottle of their Special Reserve Pinot Noir, it’s also very very good. Turn left when you get to the top of Lee’s hill if you’re coming from Fulford or turn right at the top of Lee’s hill if coming from Ganges.

I have been searching the internet for my cousin Jac (Devlin) McIntyre. Last night I was looking for deb Ratcliffe, who was at our last family reunion with Jac and there I found the obituary for Jac, who I beleive is your mother. I was very shocked to find this. If you would care to continue on with a family relationship thru our next family reunion please let us know. Please know how much we always enjoyed our visits with your mother, be it in person, in letters or via the e-mail. You all have our sincere sympathy even tho it has been over a year since you lost Jac. I’m thinking you have retired from the medical field. If I’m right you also have twins? Please fill me in on anything you care to or if you would rather we didn’t bother you let me know. Your first cousin once removed, Janet Bailey
