Blockbuster Post-Copenhagen Review at Artspring

January 16th, 7- 9pm Art Spring Theatre “Truth, Trials and Tar Sands”

A blockbuster post-Copenhagen review: Possible redemption for Canada?

Submitted by Susan Smitten

We have lived through Copenhagen and the fallout from Canada’s embarrassing lack of leadership and participation.  It is clear that Canada has yet to take any meaningful action towards battling climate change clearly demonstrated by glaring issues ranging from the continuing development of the tar sands to the climate change denial and misinformation campaigns that plague our own government.  There are those who care enough to make their voices known and they are at the forefront of Canadian action, fighting to prevent environmental catastrophe. One of those voices comes from a small band at the forefront of the fight and living directly in the path of the tar sands expansion.

Featuring:
•  Jack Woodward, pre-eminent authority in Aboriginal law to talk about the Beaver Lake Cree legal action and how it can stop the expansion of the tar sands (www.raventrust.com)

•  James Hoggan, to discuss his highly acclaimed book Climate Cover-Up
(www.desmogblog.com/climate-cover-up)

•  Alan Bibby, film-maker premiering excerpts from his documentary  Liquid Truth (www.media-group.com/)
