This award winning photographer behind the image of Pierre Trudeau sliding down the banister, and Ben Johnson becoming the fastest man on the earth, is known in the trade as the “father of Canadian photojournalism”. He has been capturing Canada and Canadians for over 50 years, helping us see just who we are as a nation.
Teacher, mentor, raconteur, connoisseur of single malt and sushi, Ted is the quintessential modest and thoughtful Canadian, always with a camera in his hand. Beginning with a small Argus camera in the early fifties, Ted Grant’s natural gift of astute observation has captured the magical human moments in life that connect us as people. His remarkable career has ranged from shooting sports, wars and heads of state, to everyday life in every corner of the world.
In 2008, Ted received his honorary doctorate in recognition of his remarkable career. And, along with fellow photographic legend Yousuf Karsh, he received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Association of Photographers and Illustrators in Communications.
See you, and meet Ted Grant on February 10th. This is a fundraising event for Salt Spring Film Festival.
