Ben’s Wiebe lost computer
Description
Several weeks ago my son Ben was at the skate park. Someone picked up his backpack which contained, a red Acer Notebook Computer given to him as a birthday present in April worth $325 plus tax, an IPOD worth $400, other items and his wallet containing his identification.
He grabbed a backback that looked the same and soon realized it was not his. He opened the wallet to find over $140, looked for the owner’s ID and quickly returned the backpack, wallet and money to the owner.
That act, in my mind, is a real testimoney of his character.
So far Ben has only had some skateboard parts returned to him that was in the backpack.
When he first lost the pack he wasn’t worried because he said, ‘Mum, this is Salt Spring, I’m going to get my pack back.’
I am so proud of my son that he returned the money that he found and I really wish whoever has his computer and other personal items would be so kind as to return these items to him. It is a hard lesson for him to learn that not everyone on this island is as idealistic as him and it’s too bad, because I am sure most of us have a sense of community and honour.
If you have seen a red Acer netbook computer around your home, please question the user and ask them to return Ben his stuff.
Thank you.
