StageCoach Theatre registration – Tuesday at Salt Spring Books

Tuesday (tomorrow) from NOON until 5PM outside Salt Spring Books
Tomorrow is a short day for the students, so it’s a good day to learn more about StageCoach theatre classes and register your child. All classes begin at 4 – 4:15pm giving the high school students a chance to participate.(They need parental permission to be excused from tutorial a bit early.)
Off-island students can register too!

Bursaries are still available on a first come, first serve basis for eligible families, and can be decided upon within a day.

We have a few spots left in all classes. Bring your cheque book and your questions.

The Climbing Wall is open again

The indoor climbing gym will open again this Thursday, September 9th. Everyone is welcome and no experience necessary.

Public Climbing Hours:
Thursdays 6:30pm – 9:30pm
Sundays 6:30pm – 9:30pm

Rates:
Drop-in climbing: $6/session
Rentals: Shoes – $1.50, Harness – $1.00
Annual Membership: $60.00 (without gear), $80.00 (including gear)

Location: behind Salt Spring Island Community Services, 268 Fulford-Ganges Road

The Wall can host special groups or birthday parties as well.

Terry Fox Run-Spt 12th

Did you know this is the 30th year anniversary for the Terry Fox Run? With one
leg, the man ran accross Canada to raise money for cancer research. $0.87 cents
of every $1.00 raised goes directly to reseach and the organization is totally
volunteer driven.

What are you doing at 11am Sunday September 12th? You may swim, do pilates or
yoga, weights at the gym, play baseball or soccer or perhaps you are a coach
potato…whatever it is, Why not change up your normal exercise routine and join
us to walk/run/bike the 5-10km to help raise awareness and money for this
worthwhile comminity event. Come and cheer the rest of us on and enjoy good food
and music.

I challenge locals and islanders alike to join us. What else have you got to
do?

Salt Spring Singers fall registration

Salt Spring Singers, a non-auditioned community choir directed by Mitch Howard, will hold registration and the first fall rehearsal at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at SSI Baptist Church, 520 Lower Ganges Rd. Registration will close at 6:45 p.m., with rehearsal at 7 followed by refreshments at 8:15. All voices welcome. We will be performing our 2010 Christmas concerts on Dec. 11 and 12. Debit card skimming on island?

I had a customer complain that their Debit card was skimmed on the island this last weekend. Has this happened to anyone else on island? I could not believe it had happened. I will be dropping in to the RCMP in the morning and checking to see if they know anything about this. I still find this hard to believe but who knows. If you know anything let me know.
